British Orienteering’s first online Safeguarding Forum set to take place this coming Tuesday 21 July.
Megan Keith a member of the gold-winning 2019 Junior World Championships Orienteering Team will be full of confidence when she goes into the final of the women’s 3,000m at the European under-20 track and field championships in Tallinn on Saturday 17 July after winning her heat.

The Swedish Women Relay team were the fastest in the unique terrain of sandstone towers and formations as they finished more than two minutes ahead of the Switzerland with Norway finishing third.
Following the publication of “Thriving Clubs for a New Generation”, the Board of British Orienteering is looking for volunteers to participate in one of a series of focus groups to assist in implementing this strategic plan for the sport.
Yesterday saw the third medal day of the World Orienteering Championships with the Middle distance race held in the hilly venue of Jizera. Switzerland’s Matthias Kyborz took gold in the Men’s and Tove Alexandersson claimed her third gold of the competition so far to win the women’s.

The Middle Distance will take place near Smržovka, situated in Jablonec nad Nisou district. The forest is a challenging mountain terrain with broken ground, partly marshy, hilly and physically demanding. The competitors will meet steep slopes with granite boulders and cliffs (map link).

The weekend saw days 1& 2 of the World Orienteering Championships held in the Czech Republic. After last year's Sprint Championships were cancelled, this year's programme was extended to incorporate these races into the schedule.
Great Britain Mixed Sprint relay Team of Alice Leake, Ralph Street, Peter Hodkinson, Megan Carter-Davies finished 6th behind a dominant Swedish team who lead from start to finish.
Alice Leake achieved an outstanding 4th, in a very close race and only 4 seconds off the bronze medal.

It has been a challenging year for the athletes and organisers, along with many others and due to the postponed Sprint World Orienteering Championship 2020, 689 days has passed since the last World Orienteering Championship (WOC) competition which was the Relay in Norway 2019.
