Thanks to Pete and Paul for excellent courses that kept us all thinking outside the box. I really enjoyed my mid day run (special thanks to the early runners who made some paths through the bracken, although a few were a bit off my compass line). Yes there was undergrowth, yes there were brambles, mostly very low, but the best was made of this area on the day. In 6 weeks time the area is unusable until early Oct. It was also good to be over the south side as normally only the Brown, Blue and Green reach this part.
Next week off to QECP and a bit of hill climbing. Courses by Allan Farrington and controlled by Dave Chapman. Longer courses will be going to some places never visited before and hardly any brambles. No Tom, but there is a kiosk beside the car park doing food and drinks, incl ice creams. If feeling energetic you could stay on and run the PJC Summer Cross Country in the evening at 1930hrs, 5K or 10K.
Check out our calendar to see what's coming for the rest of MLS Summer Series. Just one slot left to fill.
We are also going to trial running a free coaching stand during the summer series where coaches will be available to not only help beginners get to grips with the vagaries of orienteering, but also for the more experienced orienteers that want to refine their O skills. You can book for coaching on RSU when you enter, or just pop over to the stand on the day and grab a slot. We can always learn something, even if it is only re-learning something that you forgot.
