Army Orienteers leaned in to support and participate in the annual national level Jan Kjellstrom Orienteering Festival, held this year in the West Midlands.
Over 2500 civilian and military orienteers, some from abroad, took part in the four day competition which takes place over the Easter weekend each year.
The first event of the weekend was a Sprint around MOD Stafford with members of the Royal Signals Orienteering Club and local Army Cadets delivering the manpower support under the Maj Sally Calland, who was joint Organiser for the Sprint event.
Military orienteers also participated in the Middle and Long Distance events on Day 2 and 3 respectively and a very muddy Relay Competition on a snowy, wet Bank Holiday Monday.
They also took part in another approved Orienteering discipline called Trail-O in which the physical element of orienteering is removed. Here there are 2 disciplines - Temp-O, which requires quick navigation decisions against the clock, which was also held at MOD Stafford and Precision-O, where participants move through stands. A report on the Trail-O event, including photos of Army participants can be found on the British Orienteering site.
Photos from the wider event will be posted in the Photos section in due course.
