Mapping Using OpenOrienteeringMapper

The AOA have decided to swap from teaching map making using OCAD 9 to the open source OpenOrienteeringMapper software. The current version 8 (available at https://github.com/OpenOrienteering/mapper/releases/tag/v0.8.0) has functionality way beyond OCAD 9 and is completely free. The only major feature that it lacks from OCAD 11 & 12 (at £600+) is the ability to render Lidar data into contours. The creation of base maps from Ordnance Survey Topological and Environment Agency data height data can be obtained from the undersigned at cost.

We will make this change for the course on 21 Sep 18. Those who might be interested in such a course are asked to contact Phill Batts with their intent and to influence the course content at coaching@armyorienteering.com
